Secondary schools

Last reviewed:

We work with secondary schools in a number of different ways throughout the school year.

Our tools help educate students on challenges faced by engineers on clean and waste water networks, and major projects like The Tideway Tunnel, supporting a range of subjects including Science, Technology and Maths. They also promote lively debate around the world of work and water use, supporting PSHE/Citizenship.

Community speaker programme

We also have a number of dedicated and passionate employees available to come and talk to your school about saving water, the water cycle and how to take action to become water-wise.

Explore the science and maths behind the design, construction and operation of the proposed Thames Tideway Tunnel.

The resource features clips of young engineers and technical experts working on the project, who set pupils challenges to solve.

The Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 maths and science lessons include interactive white board presentations to accompany a series of worksheets and teachers' notes. There are also CREST project ideas for use in science- or after-school clubs.

Tunnelworks also includes lessons in science, engineering and maths for those in the 16+ age range studying both in school and college.
