Our water resource management plan (WRMP) sets out how we will provide a secure supply of water for our customers now and in the future, and support economic growth.
In our last plan, WRMP14, we forecast a significant water resource deficit in the region of over 400 Ml/d in London by 2040, equivalent to the water needed by around 2 million people.
We set out actions to address the deficit, including programmes to reduce leakage and progressively installing meters across London.
In the longer term we set out the need to develop new resources.
We are working on our next plan, WRMP19, which will cover the period from 2020 for at least 25 years, to ensure we can provide a secure supply of water to our customers.
