Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004

The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) came into effect on 1 January 2005.

Following the Upper Tribunal’s judgment in the matter of Fish Legal & Emily Shirley v Information Commissioner & Others [2015] UKUT 0052 (AAC), handed down on 20 February 2015, Thames Water Utilities Limited is now subject to the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004.

Please call our main reception on 0203 577 8000 and let them know you wish to make a request for environmental information.

Thames Water is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Individuals who wish to make a request for Personal Data should do this under a Subject Access Request.

Interim Charging Scheme

We will make a charge for all environmental information requests.

We are currently compiling a formal charging scheme but in the interim, our charges for the provision of environmental information will be based upon the Information Commissioner’s guidance.

The charges will be made up of:

  • staff time spent locating, retrieving and extracting the information requested. This will be charged at a rate of £25 per hour of staff time.
  • printing or copying the requested information and sending it to the applicant.
  • This will be charged at a rate of 10p per page of printing or copying. Postage fees will also be charged at cost. All documents will be sent 2nd Class Post.
